ASTRONOMICAL STAR PARTY – Over the last weekend, the Lucksall Caravan and Camping Park at Mordiford was the venue for an astronomical star party. Lucksall was chosen for the quality of its facilities and the fact that it was a dark site. The event was organised by the international website stargazerslounge.com and more than 60 astronomers from all across Britain came for three nights of observing – this number was increased by local people and holidaymakers at the caravan park. While it was cloudy on Thursday and Friday nights, the sky cleared for wonderful views on Saturday with some astronomers staying up until dawn, either viewing visually or producing astro-photographs.
