DILWYN IN BLOOM-Dilwyn will be entering the Heart of England in Bloom competition this year. Being a community project, everyone can help in some way and encourage the whole community to take pride in where they live. Everyone can make a valuable contribution. There will be a Social Event at the Crown Inn on Wednesday 13th at 7.30pm to discuss details. We need volunteers, support, and donations or just come along to find out about your village and the competition details. Judging will take place in July. Contact Julia Hall 01544 388221.
DILWYN SHOW-Despite a blustery start with the weather, nothing could deter the performance by the dogs in the Paws for Thought display. Jumping through hoops of blazing fire and diving into tunnels and over jumps set the show off to a good start. The 13th century re-enactment group Drudion followed and in keeping with the natural theme, Trevor Hill’s falconry display completed the morning’s main acts. Getting in to the spirit of things villager Andrew Brown, armour maker, arrived fully clad in a mediaeval suit. The school children skipped through the crowds, a riot of colour and happiness to the maypole, led by Andy Davies on squeeze box. As usual, the horse and dogs shows were inundated with entries and the vehicle display formed an impressive back droop to the event. Many thanks to Elwyn and Julie Hanson, for the use of their field and to all sponsors and helpers.
