A KINGTON dance group has returned victorious from it debut performance at the Welsh Regional Medallist Dance competition.
Youngsters who are members of the Freeborn Dance troupe travelled from the town to Chepstow last Sunday (May 3) to compete in the contest for the very first time and came back with a respectable 10 medals for various disciplines, including four that were awarded for first place and one for second.
Group leader Amanda Morgan said the 10 students she took along did very well in facing teams from much bigger dance schools across the region that had a “tremendous” amount of experience.
Amanda, who teaches Latin American, ballroom, freestyle disco and other dance styles, said: “Full of nerves and anxiety we all just hoped to get through the day without too many embarrassing moments, but all of the children did an absolutely fantastic job and we ended up bringing back 10 medals.”
