FOR the second time in three years, Golden Valley YFC has proved to be the top pantomime performer in the country.
On Sunday, it won the finals of the National Federation of Young Farmers’ annual pantomime competition, outshining two other clubs from Landovery in Wales and Bellingham in Northumberland.
The Herefordshire club was first on stage in the Winter Gardens in Blackpool and set a very high opening standard with its production of Where There’s a Will.....
The club and its 34 cast members were highly rated by the judges with many of the actors picked out for special praise.
Golden Valley had a clean sweep of the awards when two of them were named as the best actors in the Blackpool finals.
Lindsey Morrs was named the best actress for her performance as Fingers the Barn Cat while Ben Lewis won the best actor award for his role as the Rook.
Ben is a member of Eardisley YFC but had stepped in to cover in earlier rounds and the script was modified for him to appear in the final.
After four rounds of the competition, the Golden Valley YFC cast will be giving its final fund-raising concert at Kingstone High School on Sunday, May 10.
