TEN poultry farmers in Herefordshire have been able to wise up on ever increasing legislation following a cash donation from poultry giants Cargill Meats Europe.
The money went to the Farming and Wildlife Advisory Group (FWAG), which visited the farms offering its expertise free of charge.
FWAG helps farm and land management businesses to ensure compliance with all regulations, offering solutions and environmental advice.
The most popular topic on the poultry farms was the new nitrate vulnerable zones legislation, with farmers taking advantage of the visit to ensure they were up to speed with latest requirements.
Others had an environmental health check to ensure they were up-to-date with cross compliance and abiding by other environmental rules.
Yana Childs, chairman of Cargill Cares Council, said one of its main objectives was to help improve the community in which it operated.
She said the expert knowledge and advice offered to farmers by FWAG was invaluable.
