WOMEN’S GUILD – At the March meeting, Roger Tomlinson gave a most enjoyable talk on his Army career, with an illustrated presentation and music.
The April meeting was a members’ lunch at Oakchurch, which was a great success and gave us all an opportunity for a good chat. At the meeting tonight (Thursday) in Abbeydore Hall, the speaker will be John Griggs, from REMAP. This is a charity where retired engineers use their skills designing and making aids for less able people.
TRAIDCRAFT – There will be a stall selling Traidcraft goods at the Koffi Pot in the Baptist Chapel Hall tomorrow (Friday) from 10am to noon.
EWYAS HAROLD WALKERS – On Saturday starting at 9am, the walk will be around the Ystradfellte Waterfalls, a distance of nine to 10 miles.
A CAKE BAKE– Everyone is invited to Great Oak House, Kilpeck, on Saturday from 11am to 2pm, when there will be raffles, a quiz, and lots of cakes to eat and buy in aid of MS week.
GARDEN OPEN – Whitfield will be open on Sunday from 2pm to 5pm.
BIBLE STUDY AND PRAYER GROUP – It has been decided to combine the second Tuesday Bible study group at 10am in the Rectory with the benefice prayer group that has been held on the third Tuesday at noon. The new format will begin on May 12, with Bible study from 10am, coffee from 11.15am and meeting for prayers from 11.45am to 12.15pm. We plan to begin a series on discipleship. All are most welcome to join for the whole or part of the meeting.
WI – In April, Eileen Dilley spoke about the history of tea making and shared some delicious cakes with the members. Our next meeting is on Tuesday, May 12, at 7.30pm in the Memorial Hall when we will be discussing how to save the honey bees.
GARDEN PARTY – Everyone is most welcome to join the members of the Methodist congregation at the annual garden party at Station House, Pontrilas, on Wednesday, May 13, from 2pm to 4pm. Teas and plenty of stalls, so why not come along and enjoy sitting on the platform and watching the trains go by as well as meeting old friends and new.
