ON Tuesday, May 12, at 7.30pm, Dr Roy Massey will give a gala organ recital in Hereford Cathedral.
Coming a few days after his 75th birthday, this will be a celebration of his distinguished and nationally recognised contribution to cathedral music.
“I am delighted that we have this splendid opportunity to say a very big ‘thank you’ to Dr Massey for his life-long commitment to the very highest standards of cathedral music-making, not least during his 27 years as organist at Hereford Cathedral,” says Geraint Bowen, organist and director of Music at Hereford Cathedral.
“We owe him a huge debt of gratitude and I am thrilled that he has agreed to play the first of our gala concerts this year.”
This will be the first of three gala evening recitals taking place during 2009 at Hereford Cathedral.
The other two will be given by Peter Dyke, assistant organist, and Geraint Bowen, director of music. For more information, contact the cathedral office on 01432 374212 or email office@herefordcathedral. org.
