A MAN has been arrested in Knighton after police found a litre of chemicals at a property in the town.
Dyfed Powys Police have now launched an investigation after bomb disposal experts and officers were called out yesterday evening alongside Mid and West Wales Fire Service, which reported the substance as possibly being cyanide.
Firefighters made safe several sealed containers using a neutralising agent and those behind a police inquiry assured residents there were no health risks posed to the surrounding community.
Chief inspector Chris Curtis said: “As this is an ongoing police investigation, you can appreciate that it would be inappropriate to comment any further at this time. I would also like to reassure the members of the community that this is an isolated incident and Powys is one of the safest places to live work and visit in England and Wales.”
