A KINGTON man has been jailed for four weeks and banned from every pub in the town for 18 months.
Michael Barr, from Llewellin Road, pleaded guilty when he appeared before Hereford magistrates last week to being in possession of an offensive weapon.
Gemma Goode, prosecuting, said there was an argument between Barr and another customer in The Lion Inn Hotel on April 12 and Barr was asked to leave.
He later returned and brandished a five-inch knife in the direction of the customer.
The weapon was taken off the 39-year-old and he was restrained until the police arrived.
The court heard that Barr had a number of previous convictions for violence.
Chris Read, defending, said Barr had been assaulted by the customer and he only had the knife when he picked it up from his friend’s house after he had left the pub.
Mr Read added that Barr had no intention of using it and that he had only gone back to apologise.
