A RETAINED firefighter who raised £8,000 for life-saving equipment is to receive a community award.
Simon Halling is one of six Bromyard residents to receive a Distinguished Citizens Award. The scheme was launched a decade ago by Bromyard and Winslow Town Council to reward hard-working community members.
Mr Halling raised the money for the Community First Responder scheme.
Other winners include Jane Merry and Graham Perkins, who were nominated for their work with the town website.
Jane also works with the historical society, while Graham has been a member of the twinning society for more than 30 years.
Denis Teale and Bob Dallow have been recognised for their work with the Bromyard Gala and other organisations.
The final nomination goes to Farmer Parker, for his efforts at Bromyard Rugby Club and developing the junior section.
