DILWYN IN BLOOM-Dilwyn will be entering the Heart of England in Bloom competition this year. Being a community project, everyone can help in some way and encourage the whole community to take pride in where they live. Everyone can make a valuable contribution. We need volunteers, support and donations as well as photographic and printing skills to put together a prospectus of the community life and achievements. Judging will take place in July so please contact Julia Hall on 01544 388221 as soon as possible to offer your skills.
DILWYN SHOW-Despite a blustery start with the weather, nothing could deter the performance by the dogs in the Paws for Thought display. Jumping through hoops of blazing fire and diving into tunnels and over jumps set the show off to a good start. The 13th century re-enactment group Drudion followed and in keeping with the natural theme, Trevor Hill’s falconry display completed the morning’s main acts. Getting in to the spirit of things villager Andrew Brown, armour maker, arrived fully clad in a mediaeval suit. The school children, led by Andy Davies on squeeze box, skipped through the crowds to the maypole,. As usual, the horse and dogs shows were inundated with entries and the vehicle display formed an impressive back drop to the event. Many thanks to Elwyn and Julie Hanson, for the use of their field and to all sponsors and helpers.
SUNDAY SERVICE-This Sunday’s service will be held at 10.30am in Monkland Church to celebrate Rogation.
