TWO men were arrested last Friday (May 8) after a skimming device was found at a Kington cashpoint.
Police made the discovery at around 9.15pm after being called to the town’s Co-op supermarket.
The men, both Eastern European and thought to be from the London area, were apprehended by officers after card cloning equipment used to commit fraud was found on the ATM there.
Police urged county residents to check cashpoints carefully before using them and to shield their hands when entering pin numbers as a result.
Community safety officer Donna Jones said: "The best defence is to check the ATM carefully before using it, test the ATM slot before inserting your debit or credit card. If it moves at all, it could be an indication that a skimming device is attached. Shield your hand when entering your PIN. Some skimming devices are very sophisticated and can be difficult to spot. If in doubt report it."
