JUDGING from the face of Michael Gundy, it’s possible an act of generosity has never been so agonising.
The brave support worker clearly felt the full force of his hair-raising act of kindness in aid of county students.
Mr Gundy, who works at Lyndale Residential Home in Hereford, agreed to sacrifice some of his leg hair at the Barrels in St Owen Street to raise money for the contact course at Hereford College of Arts.
Not content with having less hairy legs, he also agreed to have his head shaved to benefit the course’s residential visits fund.
“It hurt and the inside of the thigh was the worst. I took it well enough and am still in one piece,” said Mr Gundy.
A total of £41 was raised from a quiz night at the Barrels, £205 from donations and £300 from sponsorship.
The course helps students with learning difficulties progress with basic skills and their creative abilities. Educational visits to Cardiff and the Isle of Wight have already been organised.
