A WEEKEND of farming, food and fun for all the family is planned at Brimfield.
Plans are being firmed up for the festival of local farming and rural life over the Spring Bank Holiday weekend, May 23-24.
“The idea is to draw attention to farming and agricultural life as well as to other rural business activity. In other words – to what’s going on in the countryside,”
said Rev Sian Harris.
“British farming has borne many problems and difficulties over recent years and we feel that it’s really important to support our local farmers by ‘simply flying the flag’.”
Events include visits to farms and small-holdings, all starting at 10.30am from Brimfield Village Hall, in the centre of Brimfield just off they A49 south of Ludlow, on the Herefordshire/ Shropshire border.
A full programme of events will be available, including a map of the area showing the various venues. There will also be displays in the hall, including historical photographs of the area, contributions by local schoolchildren and displays on beekeeping, willow-work, cider production and water divining.
Free parking will be available by the hall. Dogs on leads are welcome at the outside events.
Morning coffee, lunches and afternoon teas will be available throughout the weekend.
Everything will be rounded off with a Songs of Praise in Brimfield Church at 6pm on the Sunday.
There is no set charge but donations will be divided between the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (RABI) and St Michael’s Church in Brimfield.
