STUDENTS in Herefordshire are to gain a valuable insight into the working life of a leading international company following the launch of a work experience programme.
Cargill Meats Europe invited five pupils from The Bishop of Hereford’s Bluecoat School to shadow some employees for one week at its Grandstand Road factory.
The company is now looking to link up with more schools and colleges.
“We are aiming to build strong relationships with Hereford’s schools and encourage them to develop work experience programmes for students,” said Linda Mountford, Cargill human resources manager.
“It is hugely important that children get a taste of the working life before they leave school and by giving them a choice of working in different departments, they get a great insight into where they would like to end up working.”
