A HEREFORD firefighter who helped to resuscitate a man who had 11,000 volts of electricity pass through his body has won praise at a national awards ceremony.
The actions of Dave Iles and three other staff were described as “truly humbling” by fire minister Sadiq Khan at the Firefighters Charity Spirit of Fire Awards last Thursday.
Mr Iles and others gave oxygen and heart massage to a digger driver near Badsey as electricity continued to pass through the vehicle nearby.
The driver sadly died five days after the incident in February.
Hereford and Worcester chief fire officer Paul Hayden said: “Each of them has shown true strength of character of which they should be proud.”
