A WOMAN driver received serious injuries following an accident on the A49.

The woman was trapped in her Corsa and the fire service cut her from the wreckage before she was taken to hospital with serious leg, chest and wrist injuries.

The accident occurred yesterday at 4.35pm at Pengethley at the junction with the A4137.

Pete Butcher, police press officer, said a Volkswagen Golf travelling south on the A49 and a BMW, heading in the same direction and turning right towards Whitchurch, were in collision.

The BMW was then in collision with the woman’s Vauxhall Corsa waiting to turn left on the A4137 on to the A49. A Vauxhall Astra also received a glancing blow in the collision.

Mr Butcher said the Corsa driver had stabilised. The male BMW driver suffered a broken foot in the collision but was not admitted to hospital.
