HEREFORD’S new mayor will have double cause for celebration this Monday evening.
Councillors will say “hello” to Sylvia Daniels at Town Hall, who’s taking over from Kevin Wargen as city mayor.
But they’ll also say “guten tag” to their German opposite, Michael Lotz, who’s ready to celebrate 20 years of European friendship.
The Dillenburg mayor has arrived in Hereford to mark the signing of the twinning charter on May 17, 1989.
Herr Lotz will watch tonight’s installation, before visiting several schools and the Cider Museum during the week.
He’ll be joined by 50 Dillenburgers at a civic reception on Thursday, while a party takes place in Withington on Saturday.
The visitors will stay with Herefordshire families, while a return visit will take place in September.
