PARISH COUNCIL – At the annual meeting in May, Councillor Nick Parker was elected as chairman of the parish council for the coming year. The outgoing chairman, Paddy Shave, was appointed as his deputy.

The meeting began with a presentation by Tina Woods, from Herefordshire Council, who gave councillors the results of an affordable housing needs survey, as carried out recently in Bishop’s Frome and the surrounding area. A total of 27 households had expressed a wish to move into affordable housing within the coming three years but it was confirmed that no sites had yet been chosen for possible development and that the process of finding and developing a site could take 18 months to four years.

There is currently a vacancy for a parish councillor to represent the interests of residents of Fromes Hill. Anyone wishing to fill the post is invited to contact the parish clerk or any serving councillor as soon as possible.

NEIGHBOURLY FUN FOR ALL – An inflatable obstacle course, football skills, face painting, the Museum on the Move and ice creams will welcome Bishop’s Frome’s residents and their neighbours who visit Festival Housing Group’s annual fun day at Bishop’s Frome Village Centre in Herefordshire.

Festival is encouraging local people to embrace the spirit of European Neighbours Day by attending the fun day and showing that Bishop’s Frome and the surrounding areas pride themselves on building successful communities.

The fun day will take place on Friday, May 29, between 2pm and 3.30pm.

Festival Housing Group is keen to stress that all are welcome.

Clare Huyton, executive director of Festival Housing Group, said: “We hope this fun day can foster good feeling between neighbours in Bishop’s Frome, Bromyard and the surrounding areas.

We look forward to seeing you at this event.”
