VILLAGE LOTTERY – This week, John Warby won £25 with number 21.
ANNUAL PUBLIC MEETING – On Tuesday, May 12, all residents were invited to meet their parish councillors.
Andrew Ashcroft, head of planning and transportation for Herefordshire Council, and Councillor Adrian Blackshaw, ward councillor for Wormsley Ridge and a Herefordshire Council cabinet member, were there to speak and answer any questions. The parish council was supported with a good turnout and lots of questions covering a wide range of subjects. Free cakes and cups of tea or coffee helped turn the evening into a friendly and an interesting one.
Questions about the Edgar Street Grid and poor shopping facilities in Hereford city prompted the possibility of holding an evening to talk about this subject alone. Closure of schools, losing our bus services, post office closures and lack of local shops and facilities all took their turn during the evening.
HOUSEHOLD WASTE – The parish freighter was once again positioned by the BT telephone kiosk in the middle of Bishopstone on Saturday, May 16, between 11am and 1pm for all residents to use. This service is paid for by the parish council and many households took advantage, using wheelbarrows, car boots and trailers – and some just walked with their household and garden waste.
VILLAGE WALK – The next walk will be on Saturday, May 30, around Kington.
POLICE – West Mercia Constabulary has launched a new way for the public to find out about crime in their area. Log onto westmercia.police.uk and visit “CrimeMapper” to find out about burglary, theft and robbery, vehicle crime, anti-social behaviour and violent crime.
PARISH COUNCILLOR – Two councillors are wanted, one each to represent Bishopstone and Byford.
Herefordshire Council has given the parish council permission to co-opt both members. Will all persons interested please contact Barry Megson on 590691.
