VILLAGE FUN DAY – to be held on Saturday, July 11, on the village recreation ground. Entrance is free and there will be a full programme of arena events. Free children’s fancy dress and fun dog show. Space still available for trade stalls. Further details from margaretmilchard@btinternet.com.
OPEN GARDENS – This year, Eardisland Open Gardens will be on show from June 13 to 14 from 11am to 5pm. Tickets and refreshments from the village hall. Entrance £4, accompanied children go free. Proceeds will go to the St Mary’s Church.
DUCK RACES – There will be duck races on the millstream in the centre of the village on Sunday, June 14, at 2.30pm.
SUMMER BARBECUE – Advance booking is required for the summer barbecue to be held at Hardwick House on August 29. Tickets are £12 with under-14s paying £6 and are available from Eardisland tea rooms. Call 01544 388226 BOWLS – Eardisland gained its first win of the season on Sunday against a determined Bulmers side, who gave little away. All four rinks were competitive, with Eardisland winning on three for an overall win of 64 shots to 51.
Performance of the day came from Dave Bray’s triple with father Derek Bray and Alan Rudland. Eardisland’s rink team of Phil Sharp, Dave Bray, Alan Rudland and Phil Milchard progressed to the quarter final of the men’s county rinks, defeating St Martin’s before being eliminated on Friday evening in a tight contest against one of the competition favourites from Ross-on-Wye.
