Overall average 214.5p/kg, top price/head £96 for lambs grading 40kg.
Prime Hoggetts (778): As the hoggs reduce in number, the trade rises with best export hoggs over £2/kg and SQQ of 180.1p. Hoggs need to have plenty of meat and there will still be demand to the end of the month, if not into June. Overall average 177p/kg, top price/had £91 for lambs grading 52kg.
Store Hoggetts (20): Hoggs sold from £26.50-£32.50, all smaller sorts.
Ewes & Lambs (361): Strong demand for all sorts with 361 ewes/ hoggs with 491 lambs selling to a total clearance. Quality hoggs sold to £170 for 12 Suffolk cross mules with 24 lambs. Other strong black faced hoggs with singles sold at £142. Smart Welsh mule hoggs sold to £155 with others from £132 to £150. North Country mule hoggs and lambs sold to £130 and hoggs with younger lambs from £80 to £108. Lowland ewes again sold well topping at £159 for 11 Suffolk cross four and five-year-old ewes with 20 lambs. Better sorts sold from £120 to £148, others from £80 to £110. Hill type ewes sold to £85 for five speckles with eight lambs. Twins sold from £65 to £77 and singles from £65 to £79.
Cull Ewes (1,090): Entry of strong weaned ewes met flying trade with plain ewes best improved, with ordinary sheep in the £40s and £50s. Best meated sheep £90-97.50. Overall £68.89, Suffolks to £97.50, £96, £95.50, Continentals £95, £90, North Country mules £80.50, Welsh mules £75, £80, Speckles £60, Welsh £55, cull rams £75, cull wethers £74.20.
Store Cattle (142): Good trade with younger cattle in demand. Quality reduced on recent sales with good conformation steers to £950, other stronger sorts from £875 to £900, 14 to 20 months from £640-£728 and 10-12 month olds from £450-£650 (160p- 200p/kg). More feeding bulls on offer, mostly Angus or dairy cross. They sold to £695 with stronger sorts from £558 to £665. 11-12-month-olds to £632.
Heifers topped at £868 for strong 22 month Charollais crosses with other best sorts from £750 to £838. Several Hereford cross and limousin cross heifers suitable for bulling sold to £752 for limousins (465kg) with Hereford crosses to £710 (520kg) and others from £540 to £672.
Breeding sections included 12 Belgian Blue cross first or second calvers with four-six week limousin cross calves.
They ranged from £1,140-£1,400.
Others from £810-£940. An Aberdeen Angus at five years old sold to £1,100, the limousin barren cow sold at £750.
