BROMYARD residents could be asked whether parking should be restricted on a town centre road.
Plans to paint double yellow lines on Tenbury Road have been suggested to Bromyard Town Council.
The lines could stretch from Cruxwell Street to beyond the Co-op, with a possible gap near Legges.
Motorists using the town centre often use the road for all-day parking, rather than the car park near the Conquest Theatre.
But critics say Bromyard can’t afford to lose more parking, and believe the move will lead to more speeding cars.
“I seem to favour the argument that more cars do slow down on-coming traffic,” said councillor Jonathan Lester on Monday (May 18).
“Do we have an expert to take that view? because I would not want this council to be seen as anti-parking.”
The provisional plans aim to improve visibility and reduce accidents, and have police backing.
Councillor, Bernard Hunt, said the public would be consulted, but warned that changes were unlikely before 2010.
