MORRIS AND MAYPOLE-Jenny Pipes Morris who are celebrating the 21st anniversary of the team's formation this year and as part of a larger Morris celebration will be performing at the Church Fete on the village Green on Saturday June 6th prior to performing in other local Black & White villages later in June. The group take their name from Jenny Pipes, whose 200th anniversary is celebrated this year; she was the last to be subjected to the ducking stool in Leominster for being a scold. It is reported that as she came up from the ducking she let fly a torrent of abuse at the magistrate and Jenny Pipes Morris took her name as they felt she had an indomitable character. Following their successful, colourful display of Maypole dancing at the village show, the school children will also dance at the fete.
