A MAN has been taken for specialist treatment in Devon after he inhaled smoke following a fire in Herefordshire this morning.
Emergency services were called to Corn Mill Cottage, The Corn Mills, Weobley, shortly after midnight.
A 29-year-old man was unconscious and was treated by paramedics before being taken to Hereford County Hospital.
“After a further assessment, medics decided that the man required specialist care in a hyerbaric chamber,” said ambulance spokemsan Murray McGregor.
“The nearest available centre was at Derriford Hospital in Plymouth.”
Firefighters were at the scene until 7.25am.
• A hyerbaric chamber is a vessel that is used in some hospitals to provide patients with oxygen.
Both patients and hospital staff wear oxygen helmets inside the chamber, similar to a space suit.
