AN EXCELLENT entry of 900 quality hoggets and 1,300 spring lambs both sold to an good trade which has remained firm.
Hoggets were in excellent demand by the six buyers. Well-bred and meated hoggets bet-ween 38 & 44kg would be at premium and hoggets in all weight ranges would be in excellent demand. All hoggets averaged 193.53ppk with a top of 199ppk. Hoggets sold to a top of £96.50 per head.
All spring lambs were also in excellent demand. Lambs between 36 & 39kg would be at premium and lambs in all weight ranges would be in demand. All lambs averaged 210.25 with a top of 218ppk. Lambs sold to a top of £93.00 per head.
Some 38.5kg lambs from S G Deakins made £81, 38.5kg lambs from J K Morgan made £81.50, 40kg lambs from Morgan & Co made £86.00, 40.5kg lambs from Messr A Davies & Sons made £87.00, 41kg lambs from R B & D M Read made £88.5, and some 46kg lambs from Whitewall Farming Partnership made £93.00.
There was a good entry of 450 cull ewes selling to a very good trade with extra buying support in attendance. Well meated and strong ewes were selling to market premiums.
The ewes sold to a top of £112 and to average £68.27 per ewe which included a proportion of thinner mule ewes and hill ewes.
