The Knighton Town Silver Band training band started with eight members and now has 36. Cath Mellings has been working with the children in Knighton Primary School and one evening a week in the church hall.

The main band has helped to fund 10 new student instruments. The instruments have been purchased with the assistance of the Welsh Amateur Music Federation. Cath said: “The training band will be performing at the autumn concert in October. We would like to thank Knighton Town Silver Band and also Knighton School for allowing a brass group to run there”.

ACTIVITY DAYS AND RAFFLE – All the children at Knighton Primary School took part in two activity days organised by the Friends of the School. Including a raffle, so far the event has raised more than £2,000. Barclays counter manager Jo Lloyd helped to organise the event and Barclays will be match-funding part of the money raised.
