SUNDAY LUNCH – The fund-raising lunch to help with the costs of the Burley Gate Girl Guides August trip to Switzerland will be held on Sunday at The Granary, the Green Farm, Felton, from 12.30pm. Roast pork and all the trimmings, homemade sweets, plus tea or coffee will cost just £10 or £7.50 for children. Bookings must be made by today (Thursday) on 01432 820234 or 820186.
COFFEE EVENING – On Friday, June 5, from 6.30pm, there will be a coffee evening at Canal House, Westhide, the home of Mr and Mrs George Hicks.
Cakes, plants, raffles and bring-and-buy stalls will be on offer, and all proceeds will go to St James Church.
PARISH COUNCIL – At the annual meeting, Ocle Pychard group councillors re-elected Simon Wells as chairman and re-appointed Neil Wright and Angela Barwell as joint deputy chairmen.
Councillors expressed disappointment that there were no members of the public present, and hoped to find a way of getting younger residents interested in local affairs. Anyone who anticipated a need for sandbags in the coming winter months was asked to contact the parish clerk.
OPEN FARM SUNDAY – Panks Bridge Farm, Much Cowarne, will be open on Sunday, June 7, from 10am to 4pm and will feature guided walks around the apple orchards and gravel deposits laid down by glaciers. Refreshments available or picnics can be brought.
Donations can be made to Much Cowarne Church.
