KINGTON residents are hoping to raise an ass-tronomical amount for good causes by holding a fundraiser with a difference next week.
Supporters of the local football team and Kington Primary school are holding a real live donkey derby at the club’s grounds next Friday night (June 12).
Held in conjunction with rules issued by the RSPCA, and staged by a professional company, punters will get the chance to bet on one of four donkey carts running in seven races.
Their jockeys will be people who have paid to own, name and ride a donkey and all will take place after a summer fayre held on the same site from 3.30pm onwards.
For more information contact the Friends of Kington Primary School.
