A former Hereford United favourite has added his name to a campaign bidding to prevent the British National Party (BNP) taking seats in the European elections.

Steve Guinan, who topped the Bulls’ scoring charts last season, joins the likes of prime minister Gordon Brown, actor Robbie Coltrane and comedian Jimmy Carr in signing the campaign sent to the Guardian newspaper ahead of Thursday's European elections.

Campaign organisers say a vote for the far-right party is “a vote against everything that makes this country great”.
