BORDERS residents looking to sell their car privately are being warned about bogus ‘car matchers’ who charge up-front fees for pairing them with buyers that don’t exist.
Scammers have been cold-calling householders through adverts placed in the press and online, but in many cases a buyer cannot be found and the contract to find one cannot be cancelled.
Powys County Council said the ruse has cost consumers millions nationwide and are warning those in the locality not to fall for it too.
