A KINGTON school is pushing the message that littering is rubbish thanks to a special grant from a county firm.
Pupils at Lady Hawkins School have welcomed the arrival of six new bins in the school grounds after the Kingspan Insulation Community Trust awarded £600 to pay for the venture.
Staff member Jo Allford put the application forward to help keep the site tidy and encourage students to think in more environmentally friendly terms.
Bursar Kevin Gwynne said: “It is hoped that these bins will make it easier for the students to make a conscious effort to dispose of their rubbish responsibly, which will help the environment while also improving the appearance of the school grounds.”
The trust made its decision in relation to criteria which aims to support conservation and improvements to the environment, both physically and naturally.
