A WOMAN has been left heartbroken after her engagement ring was stolen during a kayaking trip in Hereford.
Shelli Bain, from Watford, was visiting the city on Monday, May 25, when her waterproof pouch, which contained her engagement ring, camera, mobile phone and personal stereo, was taken at about 10am.
“We were just getting ready to launch and had to put the boats down near the footpath by Asda,”
said Shelli.
“In the few seconds while the first boat was being taken down to the water was the time that we believe the thief took the pouch.”
The ring holds sentimental value to Shelli because she inherited it from her mother-in-law.
It has a square emerald on the middle, with diamonds either side.
An inscription, that reads ‘25.12.1938, Charles and Barbara’, can still be seen on the ring.
“I am desperately sad that I’ve lost the ring,” said Shelli.
“Although most of the items in the pouch would not really be something that anyone would want they meant something to me.”
The mobile phone is an old Nokia and the personal stereo is a standard MP3 player.
Her camera is a Canon and had a sticker on it that contained her phone number.
