MIDSUMMER FESTIVAL – The date for the Midsummer Festival at Newport House, Almeley, reported in last week’s Almeley news, should have read Sunday, June 21.

CREAM TEAS – Come along to the historic Quaker Meeting House on Saturday and indulge yourself in cream teas. Starting at 2.30pm, this is an early summer treat not to be missed. Funds raised are for ongoing preservation of the building.

SOCIAL WHIST DRIVE – There are two more sessions left in the current series.

The next is on Tuesday and the last one on June 23, with play commencing at 7.45pm. The winning players at the last drive were Audrey Lloyd, Margaret Price, Muriel Fenton, Barbara Beavan, Betty Lane, Michael Handley, Sandra Payne, Margaret Goode, Sandra Green and Kath Jenkins.

SOCIAL CLUB – This highly successful club has been run voluntarily for the past three-and-a-half years by Almeley residents Dorothy, Elaine and Vanessa.

Having other commitments to fulfil, they would be pleased if another group of people would be prepared to take over the running of the club in the autumn.

The next outing is on Wednesday, when members will meet at the village hall at 1pm to travel to Symonds Yat for a river cruise.
