FUND-RAISERS have headed to Hereford via pedal and paddle during a unique charity race.
Members of Hereford Youth Canoe Club set off along the River Wye from Bredwardine in a bid to beat a group of Hereford City Sports Club cyclists, who had earlier left the Welsh town of Tenby, to the finish line at Wyeside.
In total, 14 paddlers and six riders took part in the race – which ended in a draw.
Nick James-Williams, outdoor education development worker with Herefordshire Council, said he hoped next year’s event would be even bigger. Money raised from the race will be donated to the Colorectal Nursing team at Hereford County Hospital.
