RACE NIGHT – FOES (Friends of Eardisley School) are organising a fundraiser for Eardisley School. It is a race night to be held at school on Saturday, June 27. Doors open 7.30pm with racing to start at 8pm. Tickets are £5 and it should be a fun and entertaining night.

ROYAL BRITISH LEGION – The next monthly meeting will take place at the New Strand, Eardisley, tonight (Thursday) at 8pm.

HISTORY GROUP – The group will meet at the New Strand, Eardisley, at 7.30pm on Monday.

LUNCH – On Sunday, June 14, there will be a Sunday lunch in the village hall.

Tickets can be obtained at the Central Stores. Diners are invited to bring their own drinks, for which glasses will be provided.

FILM – The evening film to be screened in the village hall on Friday, June 19, at 7.30pm is The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas.

CHURCH FUND-RAISING – A successful coffee and cake sale in May raised £252. The summer bazaar will take place on Saturday, June 13.

METHODIST CHURCH – Preachers for the 11am services in June will be Rev S Stone on Sunday, Dr T South on June 14, Mr F Hooley on June 21 and Rev J Chapman on June 28.

ANTIQUES VALUATION EVENING – A fund-raising event, taking the form of an antiques valuation evening, is planned to take place in the village hall, on Friday, July 10. Starting at 7.30pm, entrance will be by ticket costing £4 which includes a buffet supper.

Just one item for valuation is planned, with a charge of £1. The valuations will be conducted by Mr Philip Baldwin, of Brightwells. Proceeds will be to provide a toilet for the disabled
