PARISH PLAN – Having sounded out the initial views of people living in Withington, Preston Wynne and Westhide, and after several weeks of careful thought, matters are now moving forward with regard to the production of a parish plan.

There will be a number of public consultation events during which the residents of all three parishes will have opportunities to record their views on how they would like local life to develop in the coming years. The dates for the consultation events are: Saturday at Withington Village Stores from noon until 3pm; June 13, at Withington Primary School from 11am until 2.30pm; June 20, at Preston Wynne Village Hall from 11am until 3pm; and on June 27, at the Cross Keys from noon until 4pm.

WITHINGTON WEEKEND – Flower festival in St Peter’s Church, from Friday to Sunday, June 12 to 14, 10am to 5pm. Plant sale in the churchyard on Friday, June 12. Open gardens Saturday and Sunday, 11am to 5pm. Folk band 2.30pm to 4.30pm on Saturday. Cream teas. Withington Court lake open. Working outdoor model railway. Children’s competition prize draw. Withington School, Saturday, 11am to 2.30pm. Fete, barbecue and wild garden. Songs of Praise in St Peter’s Church Sunday at 6.30pm. Entry to flower festival, open gardens and all activities by programme.
