THE county’s newest Rotary Club – Hereford Marches – has signed up its 20th member and is planning for its celebration Charter night.

The breakfast club was only launched last September, but has met with an enthusiastic take-up from business people keen to put something back into their communities.

Membership is growing, with between 15 and 25 members and potential members enjoying friendship, guest speakers and fund-raising over breakfast at Oliver’s each Friday morning.

Secretary Jo Fishley said: “We start at 7.15am and end our meetings on the dot of 8.30am. This means that our busy members can get to work in time from our very convenient city centre location near Sainsbury’s.”

Recent guest speakers have included those from the Three Choirs Festival, Herefordshire Voluntary Action, Vision Links, the Little Princess Trust, Headway and Hereford Diocese.

Additionally, the club organised its first sponsored litter pick along the banks of the Wye on what was the hottest day of the year so far.

Before enjoying a family picnic, members filled 12 bags of rubbish and raised almost £500 for the Little Princess Trust.

Jo added: “Anyone who’d like to join a lively group of like-minded people, who want to get on and do things, is welcome to join us. Just drop me an email to jofishley@hotmail.com if you’d like to come along one Friday so we can be sure there are enough bacon butties to go round.”
