RUNNING alongside the main Three Choirs Festival in Hereford this year will be Three Choirs Plus, with various events and exhibitions throughout the city.
Several events have been planned to take place under the festive flags in High Town, starting with a town crier to herald the festival on Saturday morning preceding a colourful procession.
The procession, including the Young Mayor Jane Farmer and her attendants, will go through High Town and down Church Street to the opening service in the Cathedral.
Featured in High Town during the week will be magician Mark Townsend, French dancers from Hereford’s twin town of Vierzon, Shakespearean actors from the Festival Players, young costumed members of Kaloi k’Agathoi theatre group and various ensembles made up of young musicians.
And while some of the best choirs will be raising the rafters with choral masterpieces inside Hereford Cathedral, some of the best craftsmen will be raising a large marquee outside the cathedral to house their very own masterpieces for a selling exhibition.
Open daily from Saturday to Saturday, August 15, from 10am to 8pm, admission is free to those who wish to browse and buy from an amazing array of beautifully crafted items from more than 40 members of the Herefordshire, Worcester and Cotswold Guilds.
