THE Marches, Herefordshire's newest Rotary club, has plans well advanced for its Charter Night dinner next month.

Proposals for a new club were first discussed just a year ago, under the leadership of members from Hereford Wye Valley and the City of Hereford clubs, who felt there was room in the city for a new venture.

Breakfast-time was selected to target working people and membership is already at 23 with more interested people coming to the regular Friday meetings at 7.15am each week.

Already the club has held fund-raising events for The Little Princess Trust, to provide real-hair wigs for children who lose their own through illness and social activities, including the most recent - a fun-filled wine-tasting at Oliver's, Hereford. There have been a range of guest and member speakers too while the club is also preparing to crew a dragon-boat in Wye Valley Club's Bank Holiday event.

President of the Marches is John Jarvis with Gail Scott as Senior Vice and Jo Fishley the secretary.

Meetings throughout August are planned as informal breakfast picnics (with an indoor alternative) and meetings at Oliver's resuming on September 4. Contact Jo Fishley on jofishley@hotmail.com if you'd like more information.
