CHRISTMAS came early to the Rotary Club of Ledbury when president Una Morgan received no less than three cheques in one evening.
These included £1,500 from Bristol Breakfast Rotary Club and £500 from Cheltenham Cleeve Vale Rotary Club.
Both of these were donations to the Caribbean Diabetic Footcare Project and Cheltenham's contribution was specifically for the St Lucia project.
In addition, Una received £1,200 from District 1100, towards a diabetic retinopathy project in Tobago and the money will be sent to Tobago Rotary Club to be administered locally.
Ledbury's involvement in the treatment of diabetes and effecting a massive reduction in the loss of limbs in the Caribbean has gone from strength to strength. Rotary clubs within the UK are adopting an island and see this unique project started by Ledbury as the blueprint for eradicating diabetes around the world. Una commented that her year as president of Ledbury Rotary Club has been extraordarily eventful and she is delighted with the continued interest and practical support towards the footcare programme.
