A quarter-peal of bells welcomed worshippers to Ledbury Parish Church for the last service by retiring Rector Colin Beevers.
The church was full with parishioners from the 17 churches served by Ledbury Team Ministry.
There was music from the church choir, Ledbury Community Choir and Ledbury Primary School Choir.
The choirs combined to sing The Ledbury Carol, from the recent Mystery Play.
Ledbury handbell ringers also performed and the service concluded with a mass rendition of Handel's Hallelujah Chorus.
Dr Beevers was presented with a chair made by Brian Hawcutt, from local wood. His wife, Ann, was presented with a basket of flowers.
The handbell ringers, Sunday School and Mothers' Union presented other gifts.
Church warden Malcolm Brothers said: "In recognition of his love of railways, Colin was also presented with an engine driver's cap and, at the end of the service, he drove himself down the aisle in a specially constructed mini-engine.
"Colin and Ann will be living in Worcester in their retirement and Colin will be spending time with the Gloucestershire and Warwickshire Railway, learning to drive the real thing."
