Bishops Frome v Ledbury II

LEDBURY made it five wins in a row as Ricky Griffiths secured his maiden five-wicket haul.

Watkins had no hesitation in putting Frome in on a green-looking wicket.

Campman and Foskett could not quite settle onto a good line and length but the pitch was such that batsmen still found it

difficult to get the ball away.

Wood fell to a good catch at first slip by Evans, off Foskett, but Haigh and Dean added 69 in 19 overs.

Griffiths dismissed Dean for 27 and troubled all the batsmen with extra bounce. His 5-34 included two in the last two balls, putting him on a hat-trick next week.

Ledbury responded in steady fashion, 43-0 off 15, then Steve Burgess (89) began to despatch the ball to all parts, taking 20 off one Roberts' over.

Evans fell at 65 in the 18th over but Cooper added 64 with Burgess in just eight overs and hit the biggest six of the day before being caught at slip.

The remaining batsmen tried

to rotate the strike to give Burgess a deserved century but the equation did not stack up.

Burgess tried a heave to finish in style with a maximum but missed and was bowled.

The game was settled next ball as James Brighton smashed a four for a victory by six wickets. Next week, Ledbury face Bishops School.
