STACY Coldicott admits talks were 'positive' over a move to Hereford United.
The Grimsby Town midfielder is out-of-contract at Blundell Park and wanted by United's director of football Graham Turner as he builds for the forthcoming Nationwide Conference campaign.
Turner confirmed negotiations are on-going in bringing the 31-year-old battler to Edgar Street, but refused to speculate on when a deal could be struck.
Redditch-born Coldicott is currently training with the Coca-Cola League Two side in a bid to stay fit during pre-season, but he feels the time is right to leave after seven years on the East coast.
"I've spoken to Hereford and the talks were positive," said Coldicott. "But nothing has happened yet. It's a case of wait and see with them, but I'm not panicking.
"I've not signed anything. I am just trying to keep fit at the moment. It's all about the fitness and hopefully then, when I sort a deal out, I won't be behind in pre-season training.
"It can be frustrating at this time when you haven't sorted a contract out, but you just have to sit tight and see what happens."
Coldicott, who started his career at West Brom before moving to Grimsby for £125,000 in July 1998, admits he is keen for a fresh challenge.
He added: "Sometimes you can get stale after so long at a club and need a new challenge. Now I'm getting ready to move on."
Turner also revealed that the Bulls were in discussions with defender Dean Beckwith.
The 21-year-old defender was released by Gillingham last month and had spent a loan spell at Dagenham and Redbridge during the 2003/04 season.
United have already recruited two players, Stevenage winger Jon Brady and Alex Jeannin from Conference rivals Exeter City.
Meanwhile, former Hereford striker David Brown has signed a new two-year deal with Accrington Stanley.
The 26-year-old has been joined by defender Andy Tretton in Lancashire.
