THE Colwall CC double wicket day was changed to single wicket by request from the players, due to the large number of entrants.
Played in 70 degree heat, the day started at 11am and the final was not completed until 8.15pm.
In the semi-finals, Tim Riley was defeated by Damien Berry in a feisty encounter between two first team cricketers. In the other semi, Adrian Berry defeated first team number three batsman Nicky Panniers.
In the final, at 52-years-old and playing his 24-year-old son, Adrian posted a score of 39 from the allotted three overs.
Damien started his innings very cautiously and looked sure to be the victor, he only required one run from the last ball of the game. The last delivery was high-flighted off spinner which deceived Damien and he was brilliantly stumped by Tim Riley as Adrian added his name to his previous wins in 1973 and 1979.
Kindly sponsored by Cartwright Windows of Ross-on-Wye, the first prize of £100 of sports vouchers was awarded to Adrian by club stalwart Denis Smith. Damien Berry received £50 worth for his runners-up prize.
The fielder of the day award was split between Aaron Lawrence and Will Lloyd.
