A TOTAL of 46 members and other railway enthusiasts met at Titley Junction Station, near Kington, earlier this month, for a nostalgic summer evening visit. Mrs Lesley Hunt outlined the history of railways in the Kington and Presteigne areas from the 1870s, the heyday of railway travel.
Titley is one of only two privately-owned railways in England and Bob Hunt ferried visitors along his new track using a massive diesel shunting engine.
HISTORY GROUP - The next meeting of Byton History Group will feature a talk by Alan Grigg, Five Churches and a Castle, on Wednesday, July 13, in St Mary's Church, at 7.30pm, followed by refreshments at Stoney Croft.
