ATTRACTIVE run scoring was the order of the day as breast cancer charity Herefordshire Haven received a cash boost of almost £3,000 from a match between a Haven Xl and a Hereford Cathedral School Headmaster's Invitation Xl.
The Haven side's score of 205-8 included a sparkling 107 by David Barazetti-Scott and 64 from Richard Merriman.
In reply, there was an exciting century from Edward Symonds and 72 from Ashley Nahorniak as the Headmaster's side eased home by six wickets.
The charity received their impressive financial result largely from a silent auction held at the match at Wyeside but bids are being held open until July 11 on three particularly sought-after items.
Australian pace-bowler Glenn McGrath, whose wife is in remission from breast cancer, has been particularly supportive of the charity and has donated not only his signed Australian cap but also an Australian team shirt signed by the current touring party.
There is also a signed picture of the England team from the one-day international with West Indies in Barbados.
Anyone interested in bidding on any of these three items should speak to Helen Cotterell on 01432 361050.
