HEREFORDSHIRE Under-14 have established themselves as one of the most successful county age group sides for several years after completing their sixth victory in six outings.

Warwickshire and Staffordshire have been their latest victims in a memorable campaign which augurs well for the future.

Against Warwickshire, Seb Warwick (35) and Danny Barling (30) batted well as Herefordshire reached 170.

Louis Watkins (3-17) and Richard Thorne (2-13) bowled well to set up a winning position before Josh Fisher (2-17) snared the final wicket with Warwickshire eight runs short of victory.

Against Staffordshire, Hereford-shire might easily have feared the worst after two of their most reliable run scorers, Josh Emery and Warwick, were back in the pavilion at the end of a first over which found the visitors 2-2.

But a third-wicket stand of 63 between Barling (27) and Ed Oliver (23) helped to retrieve the situation and some good batting by Rhys Davey (57), well supported by Matthew Biggs (24) and Jonty Hylands (22), saw Herefordshire reach 210-9.

When Staffordshire replied, off-spinner Davey (3-42) led the way again as they were dismissed for 182. Emery (2-12) and Hylands (2-31) also performed well with the ball.
