THE Lions' Charity meeting under BHRC rules at Allensmore is always a high-spirited affair, and it was certainly a memorable one for Almeley-based student Becky Baker.
Factory Bacardi is practically a member of the Baker family, and the 10-year-old rewarded all Becky's attentions when he battled clear in the Non-Winner's handicap for her first winner on her debut.
The gelding is a complete all-rounder, having completed a season's hunting with the Radnor & West HH, and was an outrider at the Cold Harbour point-to-point before turning his attentions to the harness racing circuits again.
Another popular winner was Llandovery caf owner Tudor Jones, who powered away from the Intermediate field with Blackfield Veela.
Almost as excited was Alan Westwood, who opened his seasonal tally when Justin St George sprinted clear in division 2 of the novice.
Jason Podmore continued his onslaught on the driver's title with a brace of victories with Blythe Meadow Jess and Wellfield Tartan Boy, while John Wright also partnered an impressive double with Tommy's Bizzie and Smart Alec.
Kim Alman is enjoying a well-deserved purple patch, and I Am The Man romped clear of Hilltop Blackjack, who had given Shane Eggerton his first success on the sulky seat the previous weekend, for his third recent win.
Next fixture, Leomin-ster, Sunday 2 pm
