NINE records tumbled at Herefordshire Council's Primary Schools Swimming Gala at Hereford Leisure Pool.

A total of 234 youngsters took part in 22 events which included freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, front crawl and butterfly races for seven to 11-year olds.

Hereford Cathedral Junior School collected 15 individual gold medals to win the championship shield and both the boys' and girls' relay shields.

The record-breakers were: Emily Jenkins, Girls Year 4 - 1 length of backstroke in 21.16 secs; Izzy Fox, Girls Year 5 - 1 length of backstroke in 18.28 secs; Laura Hudson, Open Girls - 1 length butterfly in 17.13 secs, and Girls Year 6 - 2 lengths front crawl in 34.04 secs; David Middleton, Boys Year 5 - 1 length front crawl in 15.25 secs; Joshua Darby, Open Boys - 1 length butterfly in 16.04 secs, and Boys Year 6 - 2 lengths backstroke in 36.78 secs; Daniel Kent, Boys Year 6 - 2 lengths breaststroke in 44.69 secs; Hereford Cathedral School, Open Girls - 4 x 1 length freestyle in 1.09.03.
